The Department is the core branch of restorative dentistry focused on replacing missing teeth and associated structures with prostheses that a patient handles to place it and remove it by himself. Think of it as the "engineering and architecture" wing of dental school; it’s where function meets aesthetics to restore a patient’s smile and ability to eat. This branch restores "edentulous” (have lost all their teeth in one or both arches) and partially dentulous (have lost some of their teeth in one or both arches) by complete or partial dentures.

Beyond just mechanics, this department deals heavily with phonetics (ensuring the patient can speak clearly) and geriatric care. The scope of branch extends to replace patient extra oral organs as ear, nose and eye prosthesis as well as all prosthodontics rehabilitation over dental implants starting from single tooth replacement till full arch's implant restorations.
