This course is designed to introduce the student to advanced techniques in removable prosthodontics. The student will be taught how to manage and treat flat and flabby ridges, immediate dentures, over-dentures, single dentures, dental implants.

Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:

1- All Define the problem of flat and flabby ridges.
2- Define the rational for using the remaining roots and parts of crowns of teeth to help preserve the bone and soft tissues underneath full dentures.
3- List appropriate plan for immediate denture. 4-record the surgical and prosthodontics considerations involved in using implants to replace Missing permanent teeth
4- Describe types , classification and the prosthetic options of dental implants
5- Identify the basic sterilization principles aiming for personal safety and to prevent cross infection

b. Intellectual Skills:

1- Interpret and manage normal and abnormal situations of the oral structures
2- Assess the typical problems of mutilated oral tissues.
3- Make decisions regarding suitability of different techniques for different situation.

c. Professional and Practical Skills:

1- Perform special impression techniques to manage flat and flabby ridges
2- Perform mouth preparation, tooth preparation, construction of over- dentures and periodic recall procedures
3- Effectively diagnosis and plan the appropriate treatment sequences for a patient who must lose natural dentition
4- Demonstrate the advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications and limitations of dental implants

d. General and Transferable Skills:

1- Demonstrate appropriate professional attitudes and behavior in dealing With patient, colleagues, the rest of dental team and other relevant team or group.
2- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with other health Care professionals to maximize patient benefits and minimize the risk of Errors.
3- By the end of the course, students should be able to have knowledge of the Hazards of ionizing radiation and regulation related to them including radiation protection and dose reduction
