This course is designed to introduce the student to advanced techniques in removable prosthodontics. The student will be able to manage and treat the mandibular defects either its congenital or acquired and to carry on immediate dentures, over-dentures, single dentures, and dental implants as well as maxillofacial prostheses

study on congential defects, speech and speech appliances, acquired maxillary defects, radiation, stents and splints

Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:
	1- • Understand and diagnosis of simple congenital defect, speech appliance and surgical obturators. 2- • Understand and diagnose the need for radiation stents ,oral stents and splints. 3- • understand the sequence of treatment procedures of maxillofacial prostheses 4- • List appropriate plan for immediate denture. 5- • record the surgical and prosthodontics considerations involved in using implants to replace missing permanent teeth. 6- • List congenital and acquired maxillary and mandible defects. 7- • Define splints, stints and radiotherapy prosthesis. 8- • List the advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications and limitations of dental implants. 9- • students should be able to have knowledge of the hazards of ionizing radiation and regulation related to them, including radiation protection and dose reduction.
b. Intellectual Skills:
	1- • Interpret and manage normal and abnormal situations of the oral structures. 2- • Assess the typical problems of multilated oral tissues. 3- • Formulate appropriate treatment plan for maxillofacial patients. 4- • Make decisions regarding suitability of different techniques for different situation.
c. Professional and Practical Skills:
	1- • Perform mouth preparation, tooth preparation, construction of over-dentures and periodic recall procedures. 2- • Effectively diagnosis and plan the appropriate treatment sequences for a Patient who must lose natural dentition. 3- • Assess congenital and acquired maxillofacial defects. 4- • Demonstrate understanding of stints, splints and radiotherapy prosthesis
d. General and Transferable Skills:
	1- • Demonstrate appropriate professional attitudes and behavior in dealing with patient 2- • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with other health care professionals to maximize patient benefits and minimize the risk of errors.
