• To educate the students about the basics of biological and periodontal considerations that should be followed during tooth preparation. • To familiarize the student with different recent treatment modalities af varying difficulties. • To enable students to detect the causes of fixed prosthodontic failure and their management. • To make student acquainted with laser and its applications. • To educate students about the care and maintenance aspect of the fixed restorations. • To familiarize students with the principles of occlusion .

Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:

1- Relate the basics of diagnosis with the treatment planning of the badly broken and endodontically treated teeth
2- Recognize the biological and periodontal aspects of the restorative procedures
3- Describe the principles of occlusion as regards fixed prosthodontics.
4- Identify the principles and types of luting cements .
5- Explain the principles of ceramic strengthening and the different types of modern ceramic

b. Intellectual Skills:

1- Manage badly broken down and endodontically treated teeth
2- Apply the protective measures during the steps of tooth preparation in order to fulfill biological and periodontal considerations
3- Assess properly the success and failure during the try in step

c. Professional and Practical Skills:

1- Practice the steps of restoration of endodontically treated teeth
2- Perform properly the steps of tooth preparations taking into consideration the biological and periodontal aspects
3- Practice the different replacement options according to the selected bridge design considering occlusion principles
4- Appraise the quality of the final restoration during checking
5- Perform properly the different steps of cementation procedures
