This is the third in a series of three courses that are designed to teach the etiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the disease, dental caries and its squeal, developmental disturbances, and regressive alterations that can occur to the teeth. In this final course the curriculum is tailored to match specific subjects that are the core to the continual improvement of operative dentistry. This curriculum enables the upcoming practicing dentists to expand their skills and knowledge through the available subjects that include: failures of the restorations and their repair, bleaching, management of root caries, management of cracked teeth, management of mutilated teeth

Bleaching, restoration of mutilated teeth, faliure of restoration, repair of dental restorations, root caries and managment of cracked teeth

Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:
	1- Explain the main causes of dentin hypersensitivity and how to be managed in a conservative manner. 2- - Esthetic consideration on operative dentistry: • List the components of the esthetic formula, causes of esthetic defects and objectives of restoring esthetic • Categories the limiting problems in restoring esthetic and to what extend these problems can be solved. • Describe the mechanism of color perception, and color parameters • List the factors affecting the optical qualities of an object and the requirements for correct color determination • Solve some esthetic problems and plan for esthetic cavity design using different restorative materials and techniques. 3- - Indirect esthetic restorations • Classify the indirect restorations and list the indications and contraindications of indirect esthetic inlays • Outline different techniques for fabrication of composite resin inlays and the advantage and disadvantage • Describe different types of ceramic inlays • Explain the placement technique of indirect composite and ceramic inlays. 4- - Management of badly broken-down teeth • List the indications for pin retained restorations • Differentiate between different types of pins and their techniques. • Outline the cavity preparation design of badly broken down teeth • Explain the mechanism of reinforcement of endodontically treated teeth. 5- - Failure of restorations • List the criteria of successful restorations and state the causes of their failure. • Describe the failure manifestations of contemporary restorations. 6- - Repair of restorations. • List the indication for repair of contemporary restoration • Describe the mechanism of repair for different contemporary restorations
b. Intellectual Skills:
	1- Design a treatment plan model.
c. Professional and Practical Skills:
	1- The student will be able to perceive the patients and prepare the operating position and field accurately ( Either using the two hand technique or the four hand technique ) 2- the student should be able to perform all cavity preparations design to receive different restorative materials according to the patient conditions. 3- student should be able to perform all cavity preparations designs to receive different restorative materials according to the patient conditions. 4- Should be able to deal with failed restorations either by removal or repair according to principles. 5- Student should be able to give the patient the appropriate advice to prevent disease recurrence
d. General and Transferable Skills:
	1- demonstrate appropriate professional attitudes and behavior in dealing with staff members & helping personnel and patients. 2- Apply the information technology as a mean of communication for data collection and analysis and for life-long learning 3- By the end of the course, students should be able to have knowledge of the hazard of ionizing radiation and regulation related to them including radiation protection and dose reduction.
