Area of Study :

1. To relate the histopathological, radiographic and clinical picture of different developmental alterations of the oral and maxillo- facial region, and common odontogenic pathologies. 2. To emphasize the difference between hereditary and acquired diseases. 3. To identify etiological factors behind common odontogenic conditions of the oral and para-oral regions.

Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:

1- 1.a Define common developmental and odontogenic disorders.
2- 2.a Identify the etiology and pathogenesis contributing to oral and para-oral disorders.
3- 3.a Identify the clinical signs and symptoms of inflammatory and non-inflammatory odontogenic diseases.
4- 4.a Recognize the mechanisms of responses to insults including trauma and infection that cause developmental and non-developmental and odontogenic disorders
5- 5.a Recognize the pathogenesis of genetic and immunologic and infectious diseases which are particularly relevant to the practice of dentistry.

1- 1.b relate different modes of inheritance to the expression of the anomaly
2- 2.b Differentiate between hereditary and acquired diseases
3- 3.b Relate etiological factors behind common odontogenic conditions of the oral and para-oral regions.

1- 1.c Diagnose different dental and oral pathological conditions, depending on clinical, radiographic and microscopic features.
2- 2.c Build a differential diagnosis list of different odontogenic lesions, depending on their characteristic clinical, radiographic and histopathological features.
