Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:

1- Discuss the scientific principles of sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis.
2- Recognize the aim and benefits of pedodontics for ( children, dentist and nation )
3- State the importance of primary teeth
4- Describe the factors that influence the child behavior in dental office and the different psychological management approaches
5- Describe the need for and types of premedications and their application in clinical practice.
6- Recognize and illustrate the morphological differences between the primary and permanent dentition and their significance in clinical practice
7- Describe the normal occlusion of pediatric patients at different ages of life.
8- Recognize the different methods and techniques of pain control
9- Memorize the different designs of caries detection and removal

b. Intellectual Skills:

1- Make decisions regarding management of deep caries in both primary and permanent dentitions.
2- Write a medical referral form for other specialties
3- communicate with children and their families using appropriate communication skills
4- show merciful attitude towards children & there parents and respectful attitude towards dental staff
5- Adhere to health and safety regulations as they greatly affect dental practice and environment
6- Integrate personal, medical and dental history together with clinical and radiographic finding to manage both immediate and delayed effects of traumatic injuries.

c. Professional and Practical Skills:

1- clinically treat uncomplicated cases regarding cavity preparation and pulp therapy
2- Differentiate clinically between primary and permanent teeth
3- Detect and quantify caries using different caries indices.
4- Detect and quantify inflammatory periodontal diseases using different periodontal indices.
5- Interpret different types of X-rays for child dental patient.
6- Perform appropriate cavity preparations and pulp therapy procedures in artificial and extracted teeth.

d. General and Transferable Skills:

1- Communicate effectively collaboratively with other department for proper tentative diagnosis and follow up of the case.
2- Demonstrate appropriate professional attitudes and behavior in different situations toward patients, colleagues and supervisors.
