Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:

1- Identify the different restorative techniques and materials
2- Classify traumatic injuries and select the appropriate management for each class
3- Describe the different types of pulp therapy
4- Describe different methods of space analysis and state the possible management for different cases of space problems in both primary and mixed dentitions
5- Memorize the different types of periodontal diseases and their differential diagnosis.
6- Recognize different treatment modalities for handicapped patients.
7- Recognize the sequelae of untreated malocclusion and its influence on oral health
8- Recognize the interrelationship between orthodontics and other dental specialties
9- Recognize the iatrogenic effect in orthodontics
10- Identify the moral and ethical responsibility involved in the provision of care to individual patients and community

b. Intellectual Skills:

1- Make decisions regarding management of deep caries in both primary and permanent dentitions.
2- Integrate personal, medical and dental history together with clinical and radiographic finding to manage both immediate and delayed effects of traumatic injuries
3- - Write a medical referral form for other specialties
4- communicate with children and their families using appropriate communication skills
5- show merciful attitude towards children & there parents and respectful attitude towards dental staff
6- Adhere to health and safety regulations as they greatly affect dental practice and environment

c. Professional and Practical Skills:

1- clinically treat uncomplicated cases regarding cavity preparation and pulp therapy
2- Differentiate clinically between primary and permanent teeth
3- Detect and quantify caries using different caries indices
4- Detect and quantify inflammatory periodontal diseases using different periodontal indices.
5- Interpret different types of X-rays for child dental patient.
6- Perform appropriate cavity preparations and pulp therapy procedures in artificial and extracted teeth

d. General and Transferable Skills:

1- Communicate effectively collaboratively with other department for proper tentative diagnosis and follow up of the case.
2- Demonstrate appropriate professional attitudes and behavior in different situations toward patients, colleagues and supervisors.
