Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:

1- Recall different laboratory tests and biopsy techniques which aid the dentist in diagnosis of different oral lesions.
2- Identify normal landmarks both extraoral and intraoral to be able for detection of abnormalities.
3- Recognize the different instruments, devices and methods used in the field of oral diagnosis
4- Identify different techniques of oral examination.
5- Review different types of chief complaints.
6- State scientific rules for obtaining patient history.
7- Define different types of oral diagnosis.

b. Intellectual Skills:

1- Propose different laboratory investigations and biopsies needed for final diagnosis of cases.
2- Interpret signs and symptoms and physical findings in terms of their anatomic, pathologic, and functional diagnostic significance.
3- Classify head and neck lymph nodes.
4- Design different history taking for different chief complaints.
5- Compare between different methods of history taking.
6- Differentiate between the different types of oral diagnosis.

c. Professional and Practical Skills:

1- Apply infection control policies.
2- Prepare a prioritized list of tentative diagnosis, differential diagnosis and final diagnosis of each presented chief complaint/s.
3- Select the appropriate laboratory investigations that aid in the diagnostic process.
4- Use different instruments and techniques of clinical examination with knowing their limitations and hazards.
5- Practice a comprehensive extraoral and intraoral examination including head and neck, oral hard and soft tissues.

d. General and Transferable Skills:

1- Interacts appropriately with peers and cooperates with others.
2- Focus on task and responsibilities.
