Area of Study :

1. To relate the histopathological, radiographic and clinical picture of different developmental alterations of the oral and maxillo- facial region, and common odontogenic pathologies. 2. To emphasize the difference between hereditary and acquired diseases. To identify etiological factors behind common odontogenic conditions of the oral and para-oral regions

1. To demonstrate the difference between benign, premalignant and malignant lesions. 2. To associate the histopathological, radiographic and clinical picture of different benign, malignant, premalignant lesions, salivary and bone diseases. 3. To emphasize the different pathogenic factors behind these diseases.

Course outcomes:

a. Knowledge and Understanding:

1- 1.a Identify different benign and malignant tumors, bone and salivary disorders as well as premalignant lesions.
2- 2.a Explain the biological processes contributing to neoplastic and non- neoplastic disorders of the oral and paraoral tissues.
3- 3.a Discover predisposing factors that require intervention to reduce the risk of neoplastic and non-neoplastic disorders.
4- 4.a Identify the clinical signs and symptoms suggestive of malignancy.

b. Intellectual Skills:

1- 1.b Distinguish between different tumors by the concept of immunohistochemistry
2- 2.b Interpret the pathogenesis of different oral lesions to reproduce diagnosis and a treatment plan.
3- 3.b Relate the clinical picture, laboratory findings to the microscopic picture of different bony and soft tissue disorders.

c. Professional and Practical Skills:

1- 1.c Distinguish between microscopic features of the benign, potentially malignant and frankly malignant lesions of the oral mucosa.
2- 2.c Construct a differential diagnosis list of different oral pathological conditions, depending on their clinical, radiographic and histopathological features

d. General and Transferable Skills:
