Mission

To instruct students in prescribing a suitable treatment plan for partial tooth loss, and to train them in the provision of fixed dental prosthesis.

Objectives

  • To educate the students about the basics of fundamental principles of cavity preparation
  • To teach the students the classification and types of lesions affecting the tooth structure
  • To enable the students to recognize and use different surgical instruments
  • To teach the etiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, dental caries and their sequelae, and the development of regressive alterations that can occur to the teeth
  • To enable the student to understand and apply the basic clinical principles of operative dentistry that constitutes the main demands of daily practice, which includes different patients’ management during and after the treatment (patient reception, examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, infection control, moisture control, and control of pain)
  • To enable the student to understand principles of caries control and management
  • To enable the student to be familiar with the available restorative materials and their selection
  • To enable the student to apply the gained information about the clinically available restorative materials
  • To expand their skills and knowledge through the available subjects that include conservative approach, esthetic considerations, non- carious lesions, failure of restorations and their repair, bonding to tooth tissues, and indirect esthetic restorations.
